Republicans are relying on this billionaire’s money to win the midterms — and hoping you don’t notice.

Elon Musk has quietly spent $445 million for Republicans so far in this year’s midterm elections.

He’s spent the most money so far in the Texas Senate race, boosting Republican Ken Paxton and attacking Democrat James Talarico. He’s also spending millions for the Republican Senate candidates in Ohio and Michigan, and in more than 30 competitive House races. The spending is happening through his “America PAC.”

But while Republicans accept Musk’s money, they’re hoping no one notices. Party operatives behind the scenes reportedly want to maintain some distance from him. 

This is a big change of heart from the 2024 election, when Trump and Republicans were all too happy to put him on center stage.

So what happened?

In early 2025, Musk made himself the star of the show in a crucial Wisconsin state supreme court election. He dumped at least $20 million into the race, ran around onstage in a giant cheesehead hat, and even promised voters $1 million checks.

In the end, the Republican candidate got walloped, losing by 10 points. It was a clear rejection of Musk, who had just spent the previous months doing Nazi salutes, terrorizing federal workers, and gutting federal agencies through his “Department of Government Efficiency.” It was also a rejection of the president he helped install.

Since then, Musk has gotten even less popular.

But despite his unpopularity, Republicans are still eager to take his money. And he’s still eager to give it to them. 

That’s because Musk needs Republicans just as much as Republicans need him.

After helping deliver the presidency and Congress to them two years ago, Musk has reaped a massive return on his investment through government contracts, tax cuts, and deregulation

Republicans can try to downplay their dependence on Elon Musk in the midterms, but we know the truth. And if Republicans maintain control of Congress, they’ll continue to sell out our country to billionaires like him.

America First!

We hear this all the time...

But what would a real America First agenda look like? 

Truly putting "America First" would mean putting the health, freedom, prosperity, and security of people in America ahead of billionaires, corporations, and endless foreign wars.

Here are NINE ways to do just that…

One: Protect Americans’ privacy and freedom. Stop Big Tech’s overreach. That means no AI-powered surveillance state tracking our every move and trampling on our civil liberties. And no power-hungry, water-sucking data centers forced on communities without their consent or clear guardrails.

Two: Stop the warmongering. Cut the military budget and spend those tax dollars helping people in America, not blowing up other countries or bankroll­ing genocide in Gaza. We don’t have to be isolationist — but we don’t need a military bigger than the next 6 largest militaries combined.

Three: Protect America’s public lands. They belong to all of us — not corporations that want to ruin them with drilling, mining, or logging. Protect them for future generations.

Four: Fix our healthcare. No one in America should go into debt or die because they can’t afford to see a doctor. Medicare for All would cover EVERYONE — while saving 114,000 lives and more than $1 trillion in healthcare costs every year.

Five: Put workers first. Protect the people whose work keeps this country running — and compensate them fairly. Raise the minimum wage. Make it easier to unionize. Expand and enforce workplace protections. And crack down on corporations that break labor laws.

Six: Take on corporate power. Break up the corporate giants that control so much of our economy and use their power to jack up prices, suppress wages, and squeeze out small businesses.

Seven: Get money out of our politics. Overturn Citizens United through a constitutional amendment or by neutering it at the state level, as Montana and Hawai’i are working to do.

Eight: Tax the super-rich and corporations. Corporate profits are at a record high, while the richest 1 percent own a record share of the nation’s wealth — yet both have seen their taxes slashed to near-record lows.

Nine: Invest in America. Use that revenue to fund education, job training, and our social safety nets. America First means making sure our people have the support they need to build secure, independent lives.

With these nine steps… we can put America First.

This real America First agenda doesn’t exclude or vilify people. It doesn’t surveil them, take away their healthcare, or give billionaires and corporations unrestricted power over their lives.

America First means taking care of and investing in everyone who resides within our borders. Helping people abroad, not bombing them. Ensuring working people have freedom and control over their own lives.

Don’t let Trump and Republicans claim they put America first. They don’t. This agenda does.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything as pathetic as this…

Not only is it pathetic — it’s dangerous. The Senate must REJECT Todd Blanche’s nomination for Attorney General. 

Blanche, who used to be Trump’s personal lawyer, has treated the Justice Department as Trump’s private law firm while serving as Deputy Attorney General and now Acting AG. It’s clear he still believes that Trump — rather than the United States — is his client.

Blanche has gone after Trump’s political foes, pushing bogus investigations into former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and even journalists covering Trump’s regime.  

On top of attacking Trump’s enemies, Blanche orchestrated the purge of hundreds of career Department of Justice lawyers, including those who worked on special counsel investigations with Jack Smith and on January 6 prosecutions.

And he’s served as the mastermind behind Trump’s $1.8 billion slush fund for MAGA political allies and the corrupt IRS immunity deal that would shield Trump’s businesses from future audits.

I haven’t even gotten to Blanche’s involvement with the botched release of the Epstein files. According to Pam Bondi, Blanche was “in charge of the process and the entire release of the Epstein files,” which contained personal information of Epstein survivors and suspicious redactions of Trump’s name.

And don’t forget Blanche was responsible for moving Epstein’s partner in crime Ghislaine Maxwell to a minimum-security prison. Perhaps to stop her from squealing on Trump? You be the judge. 

Folks, I urge you to call your Senators and tell them to vote NO on Todd Blanche for Attorney General. Especially if you are represented by a Republican. 

Blanche needs a simple majority to be confirmed, meaning just four Republican senators can stop this nomination. 

The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal lawyer.

Todd Blanche is unfit to lead the Department of Justice. 

Donald Trump is more unpopular than ever — and he’s scared.

So he’s trying to protect himself from the wrath of voters by demanding that Republican states rig Congressional maps ahead of this November’s midterms.  

Remember back in 2018, when Republicans lost 40 House seats under Trump? Republicans do — so now they’re chopping up Congressional districts to hold onto their razor-thin House majority. 

This gerrymandering war started when Trump begged Texas Republicans to draw new maps to get FIVE more GOP seats. California responded by approving new maps to counter the Texas power-grab seat for seat.

But now Republicans have gotten an additional boost from the right-wing majority on the Supreme Court, which gutted key parts of the Voting Rights Act that civil rights activists fought — and died — to secure. 

The high Court gave the greenlight to even more Republican-controlled states, like Tennessee and Louisiana, to draw new maps eviscerating districts where voters of color made up the majority, and had elected Democratic representatives.

All told, Republicans could end up netting themselves an up to 14-SEAT ADVANTAGE ahead of the 2026 midterms purely through this redistricting plot. 

So what can be done about it?

Republicans have an advantage on paper today, but there’s no guarantee that they hold onto the House in November. A huge blue wave could stem this red-gerrymandering tide — and remind Donald Trump just how unpopular he is. 

Plus we know Republican states aren’t going to stop there — the gerrymandering war will continue into 2028 and beyond. This is important.

Democrats must respond by fighting fire with fire — counterbalancing any future moves by Republicans.

Now, I’ll admit — I opposed gerrymandering in the past. And I’d continue to oppose it during normal times. But these are not normal times. 

If Republicans are changing the rules of the game, why should Democrats keep playing by the old rules?

What blue states must do is deter red states by neutralizing any political advantage they might get from redistricting by matching them seat for seat. No more. No less.

Blue states like Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and Colorado should all redraw their Congressional maps by 2028. Others like Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania could do the same as long as Democrats win state trifectas this fall — which is all the more reason to head to the polls. 

This isn’t a race to the bottom. It’s a means of avoiding the bottom.

Trump is trying to rig the midterms because he’s scared.

And because Trump’s scared, he’s trying to scare Americans with an imaginary boogeyman.

Every study shows voter fraud, including noncitizen voting, is so rare that a person is more likely to get struck by lightning  than to cast a fraudulent ballot. Or as Trump’s own attorney general put it when Trump asked him to spread lies about the 2020 election:

But Trump’s using this boogeyman to sabotage our elections. Here are three things I’m worried about — then I’ll tell you how we fight back.

#1 New voting restrictions

Trump is pushing for strict voter registration laws that would require eligible voters to prove their citizenship. But a state ID or drivers license won’t do. Voters would need to show either a current passport or a certified birth certificate from the state they were born in to register. 

Yet, more than 21 million Americans cannot easily provide those documents, either because they simply don’t have them or they can’t afford to get them. Do you know where your birth certificate is?

And even if you do have it, about 80% of married women and 30% of trans people have legal names that don’t match the name on their birth certificates — which makes it even harder to register.

Trump isn’t stopping there, he also wants to restrict mail-in voting, 

…Despite frequently voting by mail himself:

Trump’s hypocrisy would be laughable if it weren’t so dangerous. 

45 million votes were cast by mail in the 2024 general election (which he won, and doesn’t say was rigged, by the way). Restricting mail in voting, along with instituting harsh voter ID laws is blatant voter suppression.  

The second part of Trump’s plan to sabotage the midterms? Voter Intimidation

Trump insiders say he might deploy armed ICE or border patrol agents to polling sites.

Trump’s violent ICE agents have run rampant in our streets, abusing both noncitizens and citizens alike. The presence of armed agents of the state at polling places would almost certainly have a chilling effect on voter turnout — which is exactly what Trump wants.  

The third part of Trump’s midterm sabotage? Denying election results

Trump’s latest big lie is that any Democratic victory is illegitimate.

What if Republicans lose the midterms, but follow Trump’s 2020 example and try to hold onto power? A few years ago, this would have been unthinkable. But after what he tried doing in 2020, it’s frighteningly plausible. 

The bottom line is Trump is deeply unpopular, which is why he is trying to suppress the vote. But here is how we can fight back.

Press your state and local leaders to protect our elections right now. Your state attorney general and local election officials still have authority over our voting system. Urge them to develop a plan to protect our elections. Call on them to sue the Trump administration if it tries to seize ballots. Tell your state legislature to ban armed federal agents from polling places, like New Mexico just did.

Second, VOTE — and help turn out the vote! We need to show up in such large numbers that no amount of voter suppression can change the result. Go to vote.org right now and check your registration. Then reach out to three friends and make sure they are registered to show up.

Trump’s strategy to sabotage the election depends on fear, confusion, and division. 

We must respond by being brave, focused, and united.

Shady political groups are trying to trick you into voting against your interests.

Three special interest groups — the Israel lobby, cryptocurrency, and AI — have wildly unpopular policy goals. So they’re trying to hide their intentions from voters like you by disguising their political action committees and running ads that don’t seem to have anything to do with their own policy goals.

Let’s look at the crypto industry. Their main PAC is called Fairshake, which spent over $14 million on Illinois primary races in March and has nearly $200 million on hand to keep dumping into our elections.

Now, here’s one of Fairshakes’ ads against Democratic Illinois Senate candidate Juliana Stratton, who was endorsed by crypto critic Elizabeth Warren and whose main primary rival was strongly pro-crypto.

Who is Juliana Stratton? Corrupt criminal Mike Madigan’s handpicked politician, that’s who.

It doesn’t mention crypto or her commitment to rein it in because her position is so popular. 65 percent of voters are concerned about the lack of crypto regulations and believe using it hurts local economies.

The AI industry is following the same playbook. Their biggest spenders are Leading the Future PAC, funded by OpenAI’s president and top investors, and Public First Action, funded by rival Anthropic. These PACs, in turn, have benign-sounding names like Think Big and Jobs and Democracy PAC.

Anthropic’s Jobs and Democracy PAC poured $1.6 million into a North Carolina Congressional primary to boost incumbent Valerie Foushee, who is friendly to AI.

Valerie Foushee is standing up to Trump every single day. She’s leading the fight to hold ICE accountable, pushing to impeach those responsible for raids on our neighborhoods and abuses of the Constitution.

You see, AI companies want politicians who will let them write their own regulations and keep building data centers, even though most Americans overwhelmingly oppose building new AI data centers in their communities.

Finally, the biggest spender: the pro-Israel lobby, led by AIPAC. These groups spent over $2.3 million in a single New Jersey Congressional primary and a whopping $21 million in Illinois races.

In Illinois, AIPAC constructed shell PACs with names like Elect Chicago Women, Affordable Chicago Now, and Chicago Progressive Partnership to further disguise their involvement. 

Now, look at this ad from Chicago Progressive Partnership attacking former candidate Kat Abughazaleh (CAT AH-boo-guh-ZAH-lay), who opposes sending military aid to Israel and supports a free Palestine.

I mean, this is getting ridiculous. There’s no reference to the candidate’s opposition to Israel, or the group’s own ties to AIPAC.

The reason this ad doesn’t even mention Israel is because 60 percent of Americans disapprove of sending military aid to the country.

In other words, these groups are spending millions to deliberately deceive voters because they know they can’t run ads that focus on their own policy goals that are hugely unpopular with voters. Instead, they rely on shady tactics and a broken campaign finance system to elect politicians they want, but are opposed to what most Americans want.

The stakes in the 2026 midterms couldn’t be higher. It’s up to us to elect politicians who will fix our broken system and show Big Money that our democracy is not for sale.
